Critical Office - cooperate with Colin Deckner
In a society dominated by the personal automobile there exists many groups that would take back our street as public space, they organize rides, rallies, festivals, and political action, ten years ago these groups were isolated, and idealist.
Today however these groups have grown into a very real political force, their message stretches globally, their tactics are rebellious, and their time is now, this is our architecture.

Thesis - Reviving Cave Community
This thesis brings people’s attention back from the development of the east coast of China to the less developed area – Yan’An. Explore parts of the concealed northern Chinese traditional culture and tectonics in one of the special dwelling architecture –“Yao Dong”, criticize the contemporary living architecture model and testing new potentials by designing connected living space with continues surface growing from the existing city edge, which embedded not only subtractive method but also interactive living style and geometry principle from nature. This thesis tried to make a link between all the factors to rethink the “new growth” and evolution of the traditional architecture.
Urban Organic Colony - cooperate with Sirada and Ivonne
In today's Los Angeles culture, cars become the main transportation of the city. The pollution of the city becomes worse and worse. However, in the meanwhile, there is a growing culture of community garden where people tend to grow their own food on the abandoned area of the concreted city. Based on these two opposite culture, the new biofuel station becomes a prototype of replacing the existing gas stations, it not only transforms algae and soybean to organic oil which can be used for car supply, but provide a social and educational space for people to learn about the process and use that as a strategy to distributes seeds to the city vacant roofs to form a new urban green territory as well.
Climbing Wall - cooperate with Leah and David
This project indicates the importance of health to the nowadays people, evaluates climbing as the most efficient sports and explores future possibilities of fitness become the main focus of a certain group of people's life, therefore set a new prototype as an advanced way of living. The design concept is building a self-adjust climbing wall which can imitate the surface of famous nature rock according to climber's ability and aspiration. It also provides community interaction and nature experience by projection on the artificial surface and eventually consequently reverses the living space to people's secondary focus of life by creating limited space within its own structure.
City Parlour
The design concept is inspired by a traditional boat architecture in Jiangnan (China), which suggests the city parlour will narrow the distance between people's hearts, combine ancient culture into modern society and use it as metaphor to bring Yangzhou to the world's attention. In addition, by creating the environment around the bay, it continues a nice walkable space along the lake.
Advanced Geometry - Schoen's F-RD Surface
This project explores the principles of geometry in the math world and makes an approach combining two different mathematical terms - minimal surface and tessellation in parametric design strategy. And use specific way to generate minimal surface in order to give it a sense from solid to void which can have further possibilities applying to real world.
Subtractive Material Logic - cooperate in class
This team project suggests a different way of design - by excavating certain part's of the massing material by using CNC Router, therefore forming the unique shape. By painting a thermal paint,it will change color when the temperature of the objects changes.
Binding Bijagos - cooperate in class
The Studio’s mission is to serve and facilitate the expansion of the Bijagos Archipelago.
Along with our partners the Orebok foundation we have made it our mission to conserve the most sacred traditions of the islands of the Bijagos while facilitating an expanded knowledge of the heritage and its rich practices beyond the local area. We would like to support and maintain the traditions of the islands by advancing and extending communications of the islands to the rest of the world starting with the earliest fruits of the islands the children. We deem the academic environment a viable tool for expansion and connectivity.
