Thesis - Reviving Cave Community
This thesis brings people’s attention back from the development of the east coast of China to the less developed area – Yan’An. Explore parts of the concealed northern Chinese traditional culture and tectonics in one of the special dwelling architecture –“Yao Dong”, criticize the contemporary living architecture model and testing new potentials by designing connected living space with continues surface growing from the existing city edge, which embedded not only subtractive method but also interactive living style and geometry principle from nature. This thesis tried to make a link between all the factors to rethink the “new growth” and evolution of the traditional architecture.
